US OutComes from Covid-19 So Far: 11 fully recovered v 28 deaths...this ratio is way out of line (Original Post) Demonaut Mar 2020 OP
Probably because the US is only testing those who are symptomatic csziggy Mar 2020 #1
that could be a factor but this feels like something really big brewing Demonaut Mar 2020 #2
oh, it's going to be big but more because of the incompetence at the top csziggy Mar 2020 #6

"Recovered" means nothing right now Azathoth Mar 2020 #4
When you test almost nobody, you don't "see" the less severe cases in the data set. RockRaven Mar 2020 #5
Those numbers make perfect sense Massacure Mar 2020 #7

And because one of the epicenters was the nursing home with a lot of elderly, susceptible people.

Yes, this is probably a more virulent, more contagious disease than we have seen since the Spanish flu, but if our health care system were stronger and more responsive, if the Chinese had come out with their information sooner, and if our government (and many governments) were not so intent on looking as if they were in charge rather than on protecting their citizens, the results would not be as bad. And it probably would not be getting worse every day at an increasing rate.

We're barely testing people, and those few who do get tested and show positive are told to go home and do a Scout's Honor two week self-quarantine. There's no follow-up.

The only people who are officially "recovered" either have been admitted to hospitals and then discharged, or else are one of a handful of noteworthy cases (famous person, first case in the state, etc.) that are being followed.

Maybe journos need to start asking Trump why the death rate is so high in America...

He'll bloviate and bullshit, of course, but there are really only two reasonable answers: one is that the US health care system is total shit compared to other countries, and the second is that there are too few tests being recorded. Pick your poison, Donnie Dumbass.

984 cases; 28 people died, 11 recovered, and 945 people have yet to do either. I don't see what's out of line.
