It's trump's version of "shut this down". Likely, the emergency he wants to talk about is how hearings on the topic are making him look bad. Remember, the only emergencies he recognizes are those risks to his personal brand image. And these hearings are certainly that.

As long as it's not his life and death. I'm beginning to hope he gets ill. It occurred to me that getting sick with this one is going to be terrifying for a lot of people in the higher-risk groups.

He still doesn’t care about the response to cv19, beyond how it makes him look. There are some polls showing the majority not approving of his handling of that crisis but in his mind that doesn’t matter but he can see the stock market and for him it’s like a score card.
