General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAbout a month ago I posted this; We are witnessing the results.
I posted about how Trump gutted our entire government, including the agencies that protect us. Not only did he gut them funding wise, he left thousands of positions vacant. Then Trump did something so bizarre, so reckless, it is now killing people. He put people in charge of our government agencies who were completely unqualified. Their one and only job was to gut the agency they were put in charge of.
The news media underreported what Trump was doing to the government. Now we are seeing the results. Trumps fake administration does not have the ability to respond to a major crisis. They cannot protect us. This could lead to a catastrophic event that I predicted could take place.
Good luck everyone, I hope I don't die until after I see Trump removed from office and then indicted. It would really suck if I died from the virus that Trump completely mishandled. I work in healthcare, taking care of the disabled. I cannot stay home. I could quit and look for another job, but that's risky when you're my age.

(58,785 posts)every time they were put in power for the past 40 years, revving up in this century. There's only so much restoration Obama could do with gutted budgets, pernicious agents embedded, and fired experts gone and committed to work elsewhere.
This is the Republican anti-government ideology, developed and corrupted increasingly into the destructive insanity of extremism, being implemented through Trump.

(81,304 posts)basically because theyre a bunch of unruly adult-size three-year-olds stomping their little feet and howling NOBODY is the boss of ME!
I had a dad like that. He wore that theory like a badge of honor: NOBODY tells ME what to do. Unfortunately for him that included a growing number of local doctors trying unsuccessfully to keep the donuts out of his diabetic mouth.

(58,785 posts)Someone in a grocery line this afternoon started in on how congress is such a problem, and I asked him gosh, golly, which half of congress did he mean? He hadn't the slightest idea. All bad. Sanders would have smiled. I just "reminded" him that one half was determined to destroy our dreadful government -- but including its programs such as Social Security and Medicare (he's that age) -- and the other battling them to save it all and left him to decide if either sounded any better than the other.
It certainly would suck to knock off without seeing some of these political scoundrels get even a bit of what they deserve. But your chances of witnessing the un-sad loss of at least a handful of older ones from around the country seem very good.
If you do get it, here's hoping it's the typical easy course well worth it for the immunity.

(58,785 posts)who don't do their homework and don't vote smart, or at all. Well meaning people outnumber those who are not by a lot, and in our party we almost always have principled candidates to vote for -- if we ourselves have the integrity to insist on voting people of good character and competence into power.

Started in earnest with ronald gummmnt BAAAAD!!! reagan. RESTARTED, that is. Theyve always resented having to follow rules and live within guardrails. And they NEVER learn this lesson until their reckless, short-sighted behavior starts realizing the results they never bothered to anticipate or plan for.
And not even then. Nope. They have denial ready in their bag of tricks for that.

(11,885 posts)I'm retired but in the worst groups to get this virus, so staying home now is a must, or risk the worst. trumps tried to claim its not a bad as doctors claim, but a Dr said this morning there is 10 times the number of cases here in the state then they're saying, and it will be much worse than trumps claiming. trump claimed it was contained.

(1,606 posts)You called it Shockey. Not much was made of this dismantling of government by the media. In their defense, there was way to much other stuff going on (a lot of which was distractions to obfuscate the real programme).
However, when Bannon entered as chief of staff and proclaimed the triumph of the program of "Deconstruction of the administrative state," the American public should have been wary, able to understand what the intent was and what the consequences of eviscerated public service would be. I think most DUers did. Trump supporters, not.

Republicans are a few thousand years behind the modern curve of the evolutionary process and therefore have no business being in power.
