The difference between SXSW and Fyre Festival is that, at Fyre, you got a tent and a sandwich.

SXSW refusing to issue refunds after being canceled due to coronavirus
I get it, like the Bailey Savings and Loan, the money you paid is in Martini's place, but I'll give Billy McFarland credit for at least trying.

(9,213 posts)early. My company just said nobody's traveling for the rest of the year...no conferences, no sales meetings, nothing. We typically send THOUSANDS of employees to conferences, but they are afraid they will be cancelled at the last minute with no refunds which is what we are seeing happening with events. It's a catch-22. Many companies rely on their conference or festival for the revenue, so without that revenue, they may cease to exist.

Where did the notion that we all deserve favorable outcomes out natural event caused incidents come from?
There is no comparison between SXSW and Fyre Festival in any way shape or form and its a bit disingenuous to even suggest it.
