US recovery rate is horrible

8 recoveries and 1050 cases? We have more deaths than recoveries which is not like other countries. There has not been a new recovery since last week in Wisconsin. 29 deaths here, but media reporting 31.

0.7% recovered. Death rate 2.7-3% death rate.

On the plus side, the healthcare facility where I work is FINALLY making some plans. I hope it is not too late. We are finally (as of yesterday) allowed to test patients for COVID-19 without calling public health first.

I expect the numbers to average out, more in line with other countries.
But if those numbers hold...

COVID-19 takes around 15 to 30 days to recover from...and then you have to take more tests in 2 weeks and 4 weeks after you recover to be declared "recovered"... so 6 weeks for some, 2 months for others (depending on the severity of the illness).

we're not actually able to be counting recoveries, amirite? We can count deaths. Those are obvious, but if we don't test, we're not going to be able to keep track of recoveries.

should equal "tested positive" numbers.

i.e. If you have tested positive, then you are tracked to see what the outcome is... recovered or not.

yes, we have probably 8x to 10x to who knows the number of infections walking around.

But for those who have been tested and found to be infected, it is too soon to see what the outcome will be.

Many have been on the active case map since I started tracking it. Either we have sicker people or they are not getting tested as they get better. Or, 45 is hiding something.

Because people aren't getting tested we don't know who's sick and who's recovered. Some people probably got sick but couldn't get tested and then recovered, so they wouldn't be included. The recovery rate might be better than we know, or worse. I think not knowing how many people are getting sick in the first place is the most worrisome thing of all.

rely on -- health care, transportation, care for the vulnerable, education, even the concept of employment -- are built on weak foundations that succeed only in a scarcity mentality. One of the biggest challenges will maintaining the will to change those systems as the opportunities arise.
