I hope I'm not DU's first Coronavirus case.

My daughter, who was indirectly connected to the Biogen conference and had been told to work from home, is now told that she is considered a close contact of a colleague being tested because she might have it. So now she has to self-quarantine.

I'm very involved with her kids. I took one to dance last night, and one to the dentist today. I don't know yet if the whole family has to be quarantined; I'd think so.

She'll know in a few days if the colleague has it. I'm 75 and in good health if you don't count five joint replacements. My husband is healthy too. We'll hope for the best, and keep washing our hands.

You probably remember the Hong Kong flu pandemic then back in 1969 (I think that's when it was in the States). I was a newlywed and took care of my new husband who was sick as a dog. I never got it. Everyone around us was getting it. Many of the people I worked with got it. I didn't know anyone who had died, but thousands did. I used to wonder why I never got it. Maybe just lucky.

I just read that within one month of it hitting it's peak in the states, a vaccine was available.

Too bad we don't have that quick a vaccine response from our current so-called government.

I got it Christmas week and I had a baby born on November 7. The doctor said my husband and two year old daughter had to leave our apartment, but my baby had to stay with me. I was breastfeeding and she had immunity. So there I was through Christmas and New Years alone with a newborn. My head was splitting and it hurt to move my eyes. We lived in an apartment complex and I still remember neighbors dancing and singing in the halls on New Year’s Eve, knocking on my door and wishing me happy new year. Wow. Hadn’t thought about that in a while!

Well, not getting the flu but the story about New Years and your neighbors.

I was so young, 20 years old and we of course didn't have the internet back then, so other than your local and nightly news reports we didn't get a steady drumbeat of info, which in some ways may have been good. Young people are oblivious to stuff like that as was I. We had our whole lives ahead of us with grand plans. I just remember putting cold washcloths on my husband's head.

And I'm glad you're keeping us posted.

I'm in my late 50s and feeling very on edge, especially since I don't have health insurance. So far the closest known cases are about fifty miles away, but that's probably due to lack of testing.

I’m also 75 but my immune system has been ravaged by Crohn’s and Cancer. Each morning I bathe in Purcell, at night Ouzo. I stay home, only venture out for groceries, and a bit of exercise.

Stay safe, wash hands, eat your vegetables, and boogie on tiger.

I started feeling a bug coming on about three weeks ago. Decided to take my temperature, which I did daily. It never got above normal but was still feeling like crap, with body chills, runny nose and occasional headache.

After the second week, I called my doctor and was told to stay home and call back a week later if my symptoms persist. After putting myself through a case of the sweats for two days, I’m feeling like my old self.

Got a call from my doctor’s assistant to come in but I declined. Don’t know if I had coronavirus but this goes to show, America simply isn’t ready, like the government Taiwan.
