*My* urgent plea for corporate responsibility. (re Coronavirus)

Please! - companies who have employees with the ability and technology to do their work from home - NOW (actually yesterday!) is the time that you need to tell all such employees to work from home until further notice for the greater social good/public health.

I do not care if you have hand sanitizer all over the office, or tell people to stay home if they have symptoms. If they are in any major city, it is likely many have to travel on crowded mass transit trains or buses. They may show no symptoms, but can easily catch or spread things to others without knowing.

The virus is going to spread no matter what, but the most important thing right now is to SLOW the spread, so that the healthcare system can handle cases as they come up. If the spread is not slowed, I can't imagine it will not end up here in the USA in the same situation that Italy is now facing (many fatalities and shortage of medical personnel and facilities).

The number of cases multiplies logarithmically - going from few to unmanageable extremely rapidly unless measures are taken by ALL to slow that spread. Corporations with employees that can work from home can help (and be leaders in doing what is right!) by telling them to do so NOW.

I don't assume they care if they have not done this yet. Hoping my few points reach anyone's ears that could make a difference - perhaps they do realize public health affects their bottom line in the long run and they could be a leader in helping to manage this current situation.

Two cashiers. Cashier one: people are blowing this out of proportion. Cashier two: if they wouldn't let people from China into our country we wouldn't have this problem. Customer: coronavirus is no worse than the flu. I just shook my head because I didn't have time to argue. Stupid Fox watching fuckers.

from the head of our company telling us that we are to work from home from tomorrow until further notice and that our facility will basically be shut down to all but those who have a critical reason to access.

We have a lot of far-flung employees, including me, who work at home a lot of the time. The head office doesn't, though. So tomorrow everyone will work from home and we'll find out if everyone can do it.

I think that a lot more people will decide to work at home, once they spend the workday in clothes that neither button nor zip!

At my last place, I was able to WFH several days a week. I got a lot more done, less interruptions and saved 3 hrs of commuting that somehow translated to me lingering on the work a bit longer.
Yes, the loungewear was a bonus!
