I was thinking more of Nietzsche's super-man concept at first, but I hadn't read any Nietzsche in over 40 years, so I got a refresher of sorts on Wikipedia.

Reading most of the Wikipedia piece on Nietzsche reminds me of how little all of philosophy means if we don't have a livable planet to keep these ideas as part of our living legacy. Warnings of environmental collapse are omnipresent. And if capitalism (I hate to say it.) persists with no modifications, none of the ideas created by humans will have any meaning because there may be no one left to read them. We may become extinct.
