That is a possibility. There is also a possibility that things turn around or stabilize.

Not because of any of Trump's efforts but because of the efforts of the many wonderful leaders in State and local governments, because of the efforts of medical professionals, and maybe just some luck.

I hate to be cynical, but people have a short memory. If there is a lull in cases around election time and the economy is not too far gone, there is still a chance that Trump will be around. With fears of the virus, voter turnout can be depressed as well, which would favor Trump.

The point is that we cannot simply celebrate Trump's demise. We have to keep working to make sure he is held accountable and that we have something and someone to vote for, not just against. Voting against someone, doesn't usually translate into actually getting out to vote.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
