When the next pandemic occurs (and make no mistake, it will) and the federal government is unable to respond in a coordinated and effective fashion to protect the lives of US citizens and others, this decision by John Bolton and Donald Trump will be why.

(15,805 posts)The more Trump whittled away at the function of gov't, the quicker it fails to work effectively. These are intentional screwups. These govt failures that hollow out the abilities of critical agencies to function during an emergency opens the door to a new and lucrative corporate contract to to step into the breach and make a profit off of a disaster and human suffering.
This is what Republican have been talking about for decades. Trump keeps shuttering the agencies we need, but e has no concern over the impact in people. While he crowd about how ineffective govt programs are and cuts their funding, fires all the experts, disbands the whole effort and then sells it off to the private sector.
