(21,621 posts)I once started reading The Stand many years ago - but it was too long, and frankly depressing.
Now I realize I should have (God help us all).

(58,634 posts)that part isn't my cup of tea, but it was still a pretty good story overall.
It is long. Have you tried watching the video version? I think it was 4 2-hour episodes on TV, which equates to around 6 hours total without the commercials. The video version followed the book rather well, as King had a lot of involvement in the production. He even has a cameo role, ala Alfred Hitchcock, who was famous for showing up in his films.
I'm kind of surprised someone hasn't re-aired it yet.

(4,980 posts)Have strung it along sending the link uncommented, then talking to people in my house or texting further about how the advances in imaging have lead to some of the more important medical research in recent years. That this is no exception and that this discovery is unmistakable.
Ha. Ill be doing this all day. Most fun Ive had in at least a week. I got em good this morning, yes, indeed.
Kudos, StarfishS, for your stellar headline that sets up a much needed gag. The belly laughs have been heard in my house, and can sense them through my chats to folks.

We should have risen by now if we were going to, THIS is a pretty embarrassing predicament?
We have a POTUS currently that is worse than not having one, IMHO.
Good luck!

(10,045 posts)Scientists in Canada announced a few days ago they already been able to duplicate the virus which is the first step to a vaccine. They have been, for a few weeks now, been in China, trying out a treatment for the virus until such time as a vaccine is ready. I suspect, the US will want their own because ours will be too cheap for their drug companies.
