I’m 62. This was to be my first time as a poll worker, and I was psyched. I’ve always wanted to be a poll worker. Last week, as this thing grew, I decided to call my doctor and get her opinion. We have a good relationship and aren’t always strictly professional with each other. Her response was this: “What?!? Are you kidding me? You have asthma! NO!!!” After I stopped laughing, I told her I would follow her good advice and cancelled my shift. I did sign up to work in November, and I also immediately went online and found a not high risk friend to volunteer in my place.

Perhaps not. We decided to go to an early polling site on Friday, because our normal polling place had been suddenly relisted as “not yet assigned.”

The majority of poll workers were older, and when I thanked them for coming out under these conditions they were nonplussed. The five or six other voters who were there when we voted were older couples as well, save one 30-ish woman.

After giving trillions more to help businesses while the most effected people with this virus and crisis are senior citizens. Where's their $200-$500 a month bonus to help them through this national health crisis? They do a lot for our country too. No one has mentioned helping them.

Almost every poll worker I saw was either middle-aged like me or older. BTW I saw hand sanitizer pumps here and there throughout the room, I guess folks working brought in their own stash to be safe....

Call your municipal clerk and get an absentee ballot sent to your home.
Many states only use mail ballots and this pandemic is the best reason for everyone to start voting at home.

Mail ballots are safe, effective and have far more benefits than risking exposure to illnesses.

Find your city, town or village clerk below by...
...google "municipal clerk and your zipcode". this should get you a phone number.

All our drivers are retired, as am I. I think I’m the youngest.

Everyone is over 60, one man is 77. We’re all showing up for work.
