and each person would need close constant monitoring to ensure they were getting proper oxygenation without over or under ventilations and the damage that could cause.

It is a good start, needs more studying.

It's not as simple as hook them up and let the machine ventilate, but lung capacity, elasticity, etc, all need to be taken into consideration.

as long as the equipment works normally. In case of failure, however, multiple lives hang in the balance.
