I think I miss going out to eat and drink the most. That is our treat 1-2 times per week.

(5,807 posts)Buford highway ethnic spots or neighborhood places. Just once a week, usually Sunday when traffic wasn't bad. Now, nothing is open and there's not much traffic. I brought them take out pizza. Not the same, but better than nothing.

(13,776 posts)Its not just Trump, but everything seems so shitty. I miss worrying about just day-to-day things like the kids homework not getting done instead of financial collapse, a Russian takeover of our country, and pandemics.

And he started infect us in 2015/2016. 2020 is just the worst of that virus.
And hence the name The Trump Virus: let's remember the "man" that singlehandedly brought our country to ruin healthwise and economically because of his gross failures/omissions to act.
I miss the pre-Trump Virus days.

(16,344 posts)Contemplating which flavors to try, knowing that Id be getting a chocolate cone anyway.
Solid 30 minute line with 40 people in front of me every time we went there. Id marvel at their efficiency of moving the line along by keeping three or four scoopers constantly working. A scooper would help a group (like a group of family members standing in line) with samples and then scoop them all up their ice cream while the next scooper jumped to the next group and so on.
Seems quaint now, standing in a crowded line.

Best damn fast food restaurant chain since the demise of Doggie Diner...

(1,076 posts)But because it's one of the worst about slathering its food in sodium.
I can't eat there at all because even something as simple as my typical order of a #1 with onion rings and Diet Dr Pepper has 1760 mg of sodium, which exceeds my allowance for the day, and the sugar content (14g) is ridiculous, too. If you get their A-1 Thick and Hearty meal, we're talking almost 3000 mg of sodium a day, which exceeds the daily allowance for healthy people!
Unacceptable.
The healthiest fast food flagship burger is the Burger King Whopper, as long as you don't put cheese, mayo and ketchup on it, which I didn't do, even before I had to cut back on sodium.

(8,640 posts)Then as the virus took hold, it became more of a survival issue and trying to shore up my immune system.
I intend to go ahead and roast a leg of lamb for Easter, and turn the leftovers into (something) shwarma (like). Freeze for later.
Going forward my intention is to reduce my meat intake. In my freezer, I also have some frozen guisado de chicharon that I couldn't get to before Lent. I hope I can get to that some time in late April or early May.

(34,189 posts)For decades he's had a bridge group - at Whataburger, LOL - on Thursday nights and AD&D on Saturdays at friends. For the last year or so he's had a second AD&D game at the home of a friend's daughter.
The bridge game is now out since Whataburger is closed, The Wednesday night game is suspended. I am not sure about the weekend game. Given that all the participants are at the very least in their 60s and some are in poor health, I think they should stop it, but they don't listen to me.
But for the nights that have been stopped, I miss the time to myself. I've been used to planning to feed my husband only four nights a week and being able to just take it easy the other nights. Now I have to reconfigure my whole cooking schedule. Not that my husband insists on fresh meals - he's perfectly happy with leftovers - but I was used to saving the leftovers for me.
Plus I could just skip cooking altogether and just much on celery or whatever. With him here, I feel obligated to have actual meals.
