This was a nasty question?

?s=20

Rebecca Ballhaus

@rebeccaballhaus
.@PeterAlexander asks: "What do you say to Americans who are scared right now?"

“I say that you’re a terrible reporter. That’s what I say,” Trump says. " I think that’s a very nasty question, and I think that’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people.”

since the '80s at least. Nasty and corrupt and crooked and fake are his faves. Just because no other president has ever acted the way he does cannot be a surprise.

It's always ALL ABOUT HIM. He knows that this is turning into a world class shit-show and he is totally ill-equipped to handle it. And he will go down in history as the man who failed the American people during one of its worst epidemics and one of it's worst economic depressions. Karma is about to bite him in the ass and he knows it.

Except for your last assertion because I think he's too stupid to realize this is his Waterloo.

Throughout his life, Trump has survived and thrived(?) by bullshitting his way through the next fifteen minutes or crisis. It has always worked for him.

This time it won't but I don't think he can see far enough down the road to realize it.

Perhaps I'm wrong and maybe he does a plan to steer the country into the ditch and declare martial law to hold onto power. With this guy, anything could happen.

Really pisses him off when confronted with it. People should be scared with this idiot in the White House, he can hurt anyone anywhere. That's another sign he's a really really seasoned con man, and a serial liar. Getting angry at a reporter for asking that exposes him.

Gotcha questions, love it, but he can't answer them.

DUH!

Mr. President, Oscar Health wasn't ready for testing yet, so you delayed buying testing kits for 1.5 months or so?

Mr. President, how do you sleep at night?

Mr. President, when was the last time you told the truth consistently?

Mr. President, did Stormy Daniels & Karen McDougal meet your expectations?

Mr. President, we have you on tape lying over 15,000 times, care to clarify?

Mr. President, we don't have all day, what's it like being this much of an evil POS asshole?

Mr. President, how's Tiffany, how's Barron?

Mr. President, did you know you double speak A LOT?

that was a "gift" given to him - a chance to win some support/points and "perhaps" show that he just might care a little bit (excuse me - I just had to take a break - threw-up in my mouth.........) about people.

But, we always do see the "real" horse's ass, don't we?

it would have been a gift. Trump can't handle a question like that because he fundamentally doesn't understand people, or his role as a leader. He saw it as a personal attack. Alexander said people are scared and to Trump that's about him being blamed for people being scared. It's not that he doesn't care (he doesn't), but that he doesn't understand people. That's why he doesn't even bother to fake it.

be able to speak words of comfort or inspiration.

Everyone needs to understand the limits of this "person". I put that in quotes because the individual is totally lacking in any compassion or ability to put himself in the shoes of others.

He is a deeply flawed individual who is completely incapable of doing the work needed from the position he occupies.

Of course, I say that about Trump about 100 times a day.

That question was not "nasty." Anyone who had one iota of empathy could have bullshitted their way through a response. But not Trump. He is absolutely incapable of playing the role of "comforter." He simply can't do it. He has never, ever uttered any words of encouragement or comfort to anyone.

And another thing, watching him, you can tell that he really doesn't give a shit about any of this. This is one situation that he can't turn into a campaign event. He can't turn this into some lovefest for himself. And because he can't do that, he has no interest in it. He is going through the motions - low energy, forced to read things that were written for him by others, forced to pretend that he cares about people. You can see that it is getting to him. This is the first time that he's really been expected to act "Presidential" and take on the role of comforting the nation, and he just can't do it. He'll NEVER be able to do it.

Chancellor (ie Treasury Secretary) of the UK:

He's a Tory, and he's only been in the job for a month (there was a row about Number 10 sacking his predecessor's advisers), but he sounds like he understands what he's been told, doesn't call his own government "the Deep State Department", and actually cares that the country gets through this, rather than just being concerned with his poll numbers. Maybe that's all a front, but at least it engenders confidence, and lets you know he's under control rather than being a malignant narcissist whose paranoia has broken through.

He sees these "briefings" as him looking Presidential. Right now, they are taking the place of his campaign rallies.

He has no concept of the suffering that is taking place and never will. It's all about him 24/7.
