Kansas governor's decision to close all schools sees GOP pushback

Kansas GOP lawmakers on Wednesday moved to limit their Democratic governor’s emergency powers during the coronavirus pandemic, arguing that they are an overreaction that is fueling panic and an unnecessary intrusion into people’s lives.

The pushback came after Gov. Laura Kelly announced Tuesday that all public schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year and classes will be held remotely to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Conservative critics have suggested that Kelly's actions suggest she might go after firearms and try to limit their sale.

all day every day. They are the customer base for our small business and let me tell you it’s frustrating. The last guy I talked to this afternoon called the whole pandemic “stupid” and an “overreaction”...this is just like getting a cold or flu. I asked him “Lloyd, if I gave you a package of 100 M&M’s and told you 3 of them would kill you, would you eat them?” Lloyd had no answer because I don’t think he understood a goddamn thing I was saying. Thank goodness I had already run his credit card and the transaction was complete. Idiots. We are surrounded.

due to the 50,000 rounds of ammo he's been accumulating in anticipation of the Apocalypse but he swears by Fox News and the fake virus scare.

I'm beginning to think I must be one of the bravest people in the country. I actually manage to walk out the door, get in the car, go to the store, and even walk to the mailbox without an AR-15, a Glock, and a personal flamethrower strapped to my hip.
