ORLANDO, Fla. - Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings on Wednesday issued a stay-at-home order for residents to begin at 11 p.m. on Thursday night.

The order remains in effect until April 9. Essential errands will still be permitted, including things like grocery store runs or pharmacy pick-ups.

"We have a collaborative effort. We have consulted with both our medical professionals in this community as well as first responders and the business leaders," said Demings. "We believe the faster we can stop, we can return to some sense of normalcy."

The order applies to all municipalities, including the county's largest city of Orlando.

I'm heading into the office tomorrow morning to grab some equipment. Everyone on my team gets a one-hour window, one person at a time, to pick up things they'll need.

No word about the airport and normal passenger traffic. It's ludicrous to keep that open

My team and I will still be working. Critical infrastructure is still critical. But the precautions we are taking makes me feel safer at work than at the grocery.

The last few weeks tops anything of my 30+ year career. Makes 911 and hurricanes seem easy.
My team skews older and I’m worried to death about them. At least they are now taking this like a life or death situation.

Stay safe Roland.
