Seriously, there is no way unless they are only asking the hostages who show up on stage with the terrorist.

I'm sorry to say it, but his popularity can only go up when that happens. If just about everybody loses someone close to them from the virus, it may hurt him, but only if he cannot shift the blame to China.

We never learn. Even when it hurts us we still don't learn. Not all Americans but enough to be a real danger to the rest of us as well as the country.

Give it time.

On edit: Just found this from Wiki or wherever...

Bush began his presidency with ratings near 60%. In the time of national crisis following the September 11 attacks, polls showed approval ratings of greater than 85%, peaking in at 92%, and a steady 80–90% approval for about four months after the attacks.

One is a Gallup poll and the other is from John Solomon's The Hill.

He looks as stupid as ever so the only explanation I can think of is the respondents are heavier than usual in magats.

Stock market still way down while Trump's approval rises.

I've been willing to take a stock market hit to allow Trump's approval to slide. This version was not contemplated

Social media, and the news media, propogate overly-simplistic models of people's political views and behavior. Things like "stock market down means Trump's supporters abandon him". This is why (IMHO) there are sometimes these shocking results like Trump in 2016.

So those who don't completely hate him already are in areas with low cases, making is easy to believe he is accomplishing anything
