With police not even stepping foot into a building unless for serious crimes, bad people can get away with killing others so having some ammunition ready might be the difference between your whole family dying and everything stolen and you and all you hold dear living.

The prudent gun owner would already have ammo on hand. And I don't think it a good idea for novices to rush out and buy a gun(s) and ammo unless they have a way to receive extensive training which may be hard to with the lock downs.
