happened in 1953? (I was thinking something about Iran and Mossadegh, but nothing about 9/11/1953 stands out. CIA-backed coup in Iran took down Mossadegh on August 19, 1953.)

Was not trying to say the coup happened on 9/11/1953
just that the US trying to control the Middle East lead to 9/11

And who, pray tell, did Pinochet and his fascist goons turn to for the "restructuring" of the Chilean economy? Well, cats and kittens, that would be Milton Friedman, who made Chile his first experiment in the Shock Doctrine.

This should not be forgotten, ever. Nixon and Kissinger were evil SOBs down to their core.

I teach Latin American history.
And I try to put 11-9-01 out of my mind. Very sad for the people who lost loved ones, but our country changed- and not in a good way- as a result.
