The 3 biggest brands use SDA40B ethanol.
It's a denatured alcohol so the manufacturer doesn't have to pay liquor tax.
It's a quite benign denaturing. Has about 1200 ppm of tertiary butyl alcohol and around 5 ppm bitrex. (Denatonium benzoate or saccharide.)
The first tastes bad, the second is super, super bitter. In combination, they have an emetic effect.
So, tastes horrible and you it up.
