....when he sings one of his own tunes he really owns it. No less a songwriter than Bob Dylan said he was the best songwriter around.

I'm pretty sure it was Nanci's cover of Speed of the Sound of Loneliness that introduced me to John Prine.

and then Paradise. My brain is still swimming in his lyrics after more than fifty years.

If any have not seen the Thornton picture Daddy and Them, watch it. Prine plays a great supporting role and does a duet with Iris Dement for the movie's theme.
