My lovely 75 year old wife got the pattern online and joined with several others in our town to make masks.
These will go to doctors' and dentists' offices and lab technicians (Labcorp) to free up the better stuff for hospitals.
They are better than nothing.
We have decided that we will glove and mask to get groceries.
Stay well

(32,626 posts)I made one! Haven't had the sewing stuff out in a while, and it isn't pretty...more a disaster area. But I got one done, and am in the planning stages for the second. Brief rest needed before I go back in there.

(20,576 posts)for filters. Saw a video online by a doctor who uses a mask made entirely of a HEPA vacuum bag. The way he tested it was to have his wife cook some bacon and then he went into the kitchen to see if he could smell it with the mask on - he couldn't!
The ones I am making have a pocket for what ever the wearer decides to use as a filter.
