The collective mindset of humanity hasn’t changed much since the days of Galileo being persecuted for his fact-based heliocentric ideas.

Many people prefer what makes them feel good and important —e.g., humans are the center of the Universe — over evidence to the contrary.

They’ve seen many liberals criticize their religious convictions of eternal life, question the notion that the USA is the greatest country that ever existed, promote that climate change is caused by man, etc.

All of those ideas are UNPLEASANT to them, so they reject them and the liberals who tend to bring them up.
