Hobby Lobby and their "Christian" values close stores, terminate insurance

Hobby Lobby has reportedly begun closing stores, and slashing employee salaries — following remarks from its CEO that "God is in control" during the coronavirus pandemic — and social media has some thoughts about the situation. The news first reported by The Frontier, who spoke with employees of the company after they were notified of the situation.

In a letter to the terminated employees, the vice president of the company’s art and creative division, Darsee Lett wrote, "It is with a tremendously broken heart that I’ve been forced to take these unimaginable actions, and I genuinely hope you know that my prayers are with you and your family." Lett added, "It has been such an honor having you on my Team. I truly and deeply appreciate your service to this Department and the Company, and with you the very best as this calamity hopefully ends in the very near future." The layoffs and store closures come after Hobby Lobby CEO David Green issued a memo to employees, stating that while he does not know what the future holds for the business, everyone will have to "tighten" their belts. He also stated that "God is in control" of the situation.

CEO and his family (The Green's) and their christian generosity are the 94th richest in the US, with an estimated net worth of $5.1 billion.

https://www.cleveland.com/coronavirus/2020/04/hobby-lobby-defies-closure-orders-reopens-locations-in-ohio-other-states-reports-say.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Hobby Lobby has been “quietly” reopening stores across the nation, including all locations in Ohio, defying orders in several states closing “non-essential” businesses because of the COVID-19 coronavirus, according to reports.

Business Insider reports Hobby Lobby, which primarily sells craft supplies, on Monday reopened all 19 locations in Ohio, even though the state remains under a shelter-in-place order. The company has several locations in Northeast Ohio, including Mentor, Solon, Macedonia, Stow, Fairlawn and Medina.

The company opened 17 of 20 stores in Wisconsin, which also is under a shelter-in-place order. The company has more than 900 stores nationwide. Thirty-two states have enacted shelter-in-place orders, Business Insider reports.

The move brought a police response in West Alllis, Wis., which forced the store to close because it was violating the non-essential business order, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. West Allis Deputy Police Chief Christopher Botsch tells the Journal Sentinel the store closed “without incident.”

Hobby Lobby is following the Bible; says right in Matthew 19:21:

"If you want to be perfect, keep all of your possessions and take advantage of the poor, and you will have treasure in Switzerland. Then come, follow me."

I think that's how it goes, base on what they're doing.

but I am keeping my damn money!

Employees can be replaced, when I open the doors, when this is over, people will be lined up to come to work for me, and if God is really with me, they will be happy to work for less money and benefits.
