Chera was born in 1942[1] to a Syrian Jewish family.[2][3] In 1947,[1] his father Isaac Chera opened a retail store called Young World in Brooklyn, New York.[2] The family later purchased the building and grew Young World into a chain purchasing the buildings as they expanded.[2] In the 1980s, Chera (then in charge of the family company) started purchasing real estate in New York City[1] at first as a minority partner and later in 2000s as the lead developer.[2] Chera is known for developing or "repositioning" the retail portion of his buildings and then selling the property.[2]

In a joint venture with The Carlyle Group and Charles Kushner, Chera sold the retail portion of 666 Fifth Avenue in two transactions for more than $1 billion;[4] and also the retail portion of the St. Regis Hotel in a joint venture with Lloyd Goldman and Jeffrey Feil for $380 million.[5] In 2010, he began the restoration of The Knickerbocker Hotel in Manhattan.[1][6] In 2012, Chera purchased 49.9% interest in a four-building Fifth Avenue portfolio that included the Olympic Tower for $1 billion from the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.[7]

Pity what that building has suffered. It was once a magnificent place, and the "Top of the Sixes" in its heyday was a great spot for drinks, dinner, and the view.

Just a couple of points, however, after reading the linked article:

Chump claims "his friend" has the coronavirus. The article claims another friend says Chera has viral pneumonia.

Chump says Chera has "fallen into a coma". The article says Chera is in a medically induced coma. There is a difference.

What would Chump be without the hype?

At least I was directionally right. You're still "up there".
I was in jury duty for 2.5 days here. 14 people in a 10x16 room for 2+ days. Week of March 9.
Then, I subbed Jr Hi on the 13th.
Was nervous for a while. But, OK here.
In fact, I had severe bronchitis in mid December. Got it subbing. 12 kids, 3 teachers, me and the school secretary all got sick with what was diagnosed as either bronchitis or pneumonia. In 9 school days! School only has 110 kids.
Based on reading this thing might actually have come to the US in November or December, I might have already gotten it! Don't know for sure, of course. Only barely had a fever, so maybe not.
Hang in there. JB's doing well so far! We'll get through this.
