I get it that he has to be tested, but so do the rest of us!

(11,853 posts)His partner took him into the hospital last Mon. They tested him, took xrays, bloods, oxygen levels, CT scan, and admitted him based on the results while he waited. Docs said it was presumptive COVID-19. First result came back negative, but they kept him due to the look of his chest X-rays, and did a second test, which just came back positive yesterday. They are running a 3rd test and expect to get the results today or tomorrow. Hes still in the hospital, still on oxygen, no worse or no better. He is receiving chloroquine treatment.

(22,911 posts)Starting from the unacceptable but none the less current state or reality where testing is in serious short supply, first responders and Congress, the President and VP and the cabinet, should be frequently tested above all else. Members of our national government frequently work in close quarters and contagion could spread very rapidly decimating the function of government. By testing cabinet members frequently health officials can work backwards tracing contacts within their departments should any of them come up positive. We can't afford to have government cease functioning.
And yes I do realize that in the case of a government fronted by Donald Trump, it is a close call whether we are better off with or without a government.

Next year, if President Biden gets tested multiple times, we'll have no complaint.

(10,885 posts)with our president, VP, Cabinet, Senate, and House to be tested...BEFORE they even get into office.
However, I want them tested on drug use, arrest records, mental health, financial stability, and Constitutional knowledge, and I want the results to be public.
Don't most of the rest of us have to pass pre-employment checks? Why should these people - the people who determine what laws and lifestyle their constituents must adhere to - not have the same requirement? Our lives are in their hands every day.
