He sacrificed himself and it sounds like everyone knows it.

Here is Captain Crozier walking away from his ship while sailors chant his name after he was relieved from duty for blowing the whistle on a coronavirus contamination aboard the USS Roosevelt.

I have more of an insight because my husband is Bohemian Czech with family all over Central, Eastern Europe, Ukraine & Byelorussia. It's common knowledge in alot of circles, seeing as how her parents WERE big muckety-mucks in the local Communist parties & HATED for what alot of their fellow Slovenijans STILL see as betrayal...THINK the gop party's "reputation" & you'll get a somewhat of an idea of what the REAL DEAL is & why her CHAIN IMMIGRATION mammy & sperm donor HAD to leave the country. ...why the navy got their noses out of joint for the chain of command thing. Well, as well as a civilian could, I suppose.
But, given the circumstances, I think the navy blew this one.
A guy protecting his charges from what is a national emergency looks terrible. It would have been just as easy for them to say, that despite the leaked letter, proper chain of command was followed. Even if it wasn't followed to the letter.
They just look bad, disciplining a guy who was protecting his subordinates.

Captain Brett Crozier DID NOT go outside the chain of command.

The DoD/Pentagon/NAVY claimed they were "blindsided" by this. BULLSHIT. They have known for over a week now that Capt. Crozier was begging for help for his sick Sailors. When NOT ONE GODDAM THING was done to help him, he send the letter you all now see. It was leaked to the media. But NOT by Crozier.

His actions are the actions every CO should take when his Sailors are at risk. He stared down the High and Mighty and got what he wanted for his Sailors. Did he know the shit would hit the fan ? Of course he did. You don't make it to O-6 without understanding the political lay of the land. Hell, that's how you GET to O-6.

And he DID get what he wanted. The NAVY has transfered about 1000 hands to medical facilities. That is 25% of his entire ship's compliment. If 25% of your co-workers or staff were sick, you'd move Heaven and Earth to get them the help they DESERVED and EARNED.

It is obvious to me that the trumpie clusterfuck has NO FUCKING IDEA of what "Leave no man behind" means. And that is disgraceful and outrageous.

To Captain Brett Crozier ----- BRAVO ZULU !!!

I never thought I could ever hate any man as much as I hate this assfuck in the WH.

The father of a good friend got on the wrong side of Richard Nixon when he allowed women and POC to rise to be officers in the US Navy. The day Nixon resigned, he ordered Jim Schlesinger, who was Secretary of Defense at the time, to fire him. Schlesinger, who knew how popular our friend's father was with the Navy rank and file, declined to do as ordered, and Nixon was gone before he could do anything to Schlesinger.

This is the wiki page of Secty of the Navy:

Thomas B. Modly is an American businessman and government official who has served as Acting United States Secretary of the Navy since November 24, 2019.

Modly, who was confirmed as the United States Under Secretary of the Navy on December 4, 2017, performed the duties of the Secretary of the Navy while Richard V. Spencer was Acting Secretary of Defense and Acting Deputy Secretary of Defense from July 15, 2019, to July 31, 2019.[1]
Career

Modly is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Georgetown University, and Harvard Business School. He served on active duty in the United States Navy as a helicopter pilot and spent seven years as a U.S. Navy officer.[2] He has held various leadership positions at Iconixx, Oxford Associates, and UNC Inc.,[3] and taught political science at the United States Air Force Academy.[4]

Modly served as the managing director of the PricewaterhouseCoopers global government and public services sector and as the firm's global government defense network leader. He has served as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Financial Management and as the first executive director of the Defense Business Board.

He was nominated to become Navy Undersecretary by President Donald Trump in September 2017 and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate two months later.[5]

On April 1, 2020, as Acting Secretary of the Navy, he dismissed Capt. Brett Crozier for raising the alarm over widespread COVID-19 infections onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.[6][7][8][9][10]

That qualifies him to an acting Secretary of the Navy? Wasn't he even embarrassed to write that recall?

Further, a military member can refuse to follow unlawful orders, and keeping an aircraft carrier full of sailors to get sick and die is an unlawful order. The Captain paid the price, but his sailors would take a bullet for him, and there will be a reckoning when this shit is over. All military recognize what this Captain did for his troops and honor his choice. covid45 can not begin to comprehend the loyalty those men and women have for their leader because it was not bought, it was earned.

but please cease with the "unlawful order" stuff. Nothing in this situation has even the hint of unlawful orders. This man was relieved from command because he was cause for embarrassment (rightly or wrongly) to his superiors. And then (unfortunately for him) it became public news. That'll usually do the trick.

I'll +1 every other comment in your post.

Spot on, K&R and +1000

On edit: I agree with you on the "unlawful order" stance. A true leader has a duty to protect his soldiers at all times. An order given to the contrary, is unlawful.

If there was a version of "Star Trek" set in a future dystopian enough to be an accurate reflection of the present.

...We make a pact with our men and women of the military that when our country needs them THEY WILL BE THERE. We owe them the very same loyalty and consideration. This is a leader THAT KNEW that the tRump* maladministration would not do the right thing, so he did the right thing.

Now the Navy will just wait for him to retire. He may wait to be passed over 3 times. I see a future Democratic senator walking off that boat

The tRump administration does not know how to recognize good people. You would think they have a flawed perspective.

Horrible decision. But tRump denies sticking his finger in this mess. Lying again.

With that said....

IMPOTUS and company need to keep him busy in the Navy with something. Otherwise, he's a loose canon. But I don't give that much credit to the current administration.

If he's cut loose or decides collecting a paycheck just siting at a desk that does nothing isn't for him...he'll be major thorn in Trump's and GOP's side.

Captain Crozier was not only looking after the welfare of his crew; he was looking after the readiness of his ship. That's a command responsibility. If it's true that a thousand crew members were put in on shore quarantine, that's 20% of the compliment. That's unacceptable for any combat unit. The Navy should have gone to DefCon 4 instead of killing the messenger.

The DNC won't do it because they have no scrotum, but if I were running the DNC, I would spare no expense to create and run an add that points out the obvious fact that Trump supports traitors who would subvert the chain of command and put their service colleagues at risk by providing the enemy with gifts for terrorist enhancing propaganda while relieving from command those leaders who will sacrifice their careers for the lives of those they command and the battle readiness of their ship.

Carrier by breaking the rules. My guess he reported a few cases up the chain of command and was ignored. He did what he did to save his crew. I think the truth will come out and the captain comes out clean.
