I don't think those are high heels. It's probably the lighting or colorization that makes them look

...or else the dirt there wasn't too flat. Her heel is up, but not because of a thick boot heel.

into one tightly enclosed area. That certainly didn't help the spread of the virus. They were only slightly more medically advanced than using leeches and shaman's incantations it seems. Who knows how many died because of poor sanitary conditions?
