Was this change made today?
The website now says:
But previously -- looks like the cache has updated, but I managed to grab a screenshot just moments ago:
As you can see, the text used to say:
When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency. Organized for scalable response to a variety of public health threats, this repository contains enough supplies to respond to multiple large-scale emergencies simultaneously.
Nice work, Jared.
Note: the SNS Wikipedia page still reflects the old language: "When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency. "

(46,166 posts)I suppose it would be the chair of the committee having oversight over the stockpile. But I don't know what committee. Perhaps Appropriations since it has oversight of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies. Or it could be Education and Labor.
They may already be aware but it can't hurt to write to committees.

(449 posts)The Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2013 (Pub.L. 1135, H.R. 307, enacted March 13, 2013) is a law enacted by the 113th United States Congress. The Act amends the Public Health Service Act in order to extend, fund, and improve several programs designed to prepare the United States and health professionals in the event of a pandemic, epidemic, or biological, chemical, radiological, or nuclear accident or attack.
The Act clarifies the authority of different American officials, makes it easier to temporarily reassign personnel to respond to emergency situations, and alters the process for testing and producing medical countermeasures. The Act is focused on improving preparedness for any public health emergency.
Section 403 reauthorizes the Strategic National Stockpile for FY 2014-FY2018. It requires the Secretary to:
(1) submit to the appropriate congressional committees, to the extent that the disclosure of such information does not compromise national security, the annual review of the contents of the Stockpile; and
(2) review and revise the contents of the Stockpile to ensure that the potential depletion of countermeasures currently in the Stockpile is identified and appropriately addressed, including through necessary replenishment.[4]

Gouged prices, middlemen and medical supply chaos: Why governors are so upset with Trump
Masks that used to cost pennies now cost several dollars. Companies outside the traditional supply chain offer wildly varying levels of price and quality. Health authorities say they have few other choices to meet their needs in a dog-eat-dog battle.

(3,276 posts)but I saw it with my own eyes. Just after Trump's inauguration, the WH web site was displaying the Bill of Rights - but all references to persons or people were changed to "citizens."
That "revision" has long since disappeared from the site, of course.
A maladministration that thinks it can re-write the Bill of Rights has no respect for any law or government document.
But we knew that.

(14,144 posts)Strategic National Stockpile description altered online after Kushner's remarks
The government website for the emergency repository appears to have been updated this morning.
But just hours earlier, the text characterized the stockpile as the "nation's largest supply of life-saving pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for use in a public health emergency severe enough to cause local supplies to run out."
The previous language stated that when "state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency."
Before it stated,...
The official government webpage for the Strategic National Stockpile was altered Friday to seemingly reflect a controversial description of the emergency repository that White House adviser Jared Kushner offered at a news conference Thursday evening.
According to a brief online summary on the Department of Health and Human Services website, the stockpile's role "is to supplement state and local supplies during public health emergencies. Many states have products stockpiled, as well."

(55,144 posts)Kushner on Thursday evening offered a novel argument about the national stockpile. He said some states still had stockpiles that they hadnt been employing for the coronavirus outbreak and that localities should go to them first. And then he suggested that the national stockpile wasnt even meant for them.
And the notion of the federal stockpile was its supposed to be our stockpile, Kushner said. Its not supposed to be states stockpiles that they then use.
As reporters quickly noted, that didnt match with how the Department of Health and Human Services was describing the program. On its website, it said, Strategic National Stockpile is the nations largest supply of life-saving pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for use in a public health emergency severe enough to cause local supplies to run out. It continued to say, "When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency.

Its longtime director, Greg Burel, retired at the end of January, according to an agency spokeswoman. Adams, the deputy director, was left at the helm in an acting capacity.
And in 2018, the Trump administration shifted control of the stockpile from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to an office within the Department of Health and Human Services dedicated to emergency preparedness and response.
