Many Americans will get government checks up to $1,200 to help them financially weather job loss, reduced work hours, and other money challenges as the country tries to stem the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
But when taxpayers will receive their checks depends on what banking information the Internal Revenue Service has on file for them and other factors.
Heres what you need to know.
When will the stimulus check arrive? It depends.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said at a White House briefing on Thursday, that those Americans who have signed up for direct deposit will receive their payment within two weeks.

(2,881 posts)but have filed returns for the last two years because of getting insurance from the ACA. I did not include DD information however, because of owing no taxes or getting any refunds. Hoping the IRS (under drump this is highly questionable) is competent enough to use my social security direct deposit information, otherwise I should still get a check but it is sounding
like it will be weeks away...they should get their "dd portal" going immediately (why can't the morons get help from the big tech companies). Someone even suggested that drumph and munchies really want to delay this payment so they can "change their mind" about sending it out...I know legally not possible but with our exalted leader(s) who knows...they don't really care....

(64,852 posts)...they would have to have had a 2018 or 2019 AGI of around $170,000.
Do they have that kind of income?
If no, it's not the stimulus check.
My wife & I are getting $900 out of a possible $2,400 due to exceeding the income limit of $150k for married, filing jointly.
The decline rate is mostly linear, but blocky because they're using tiers of income beyond $150k.
That's where my $170k can from.

(64,852 posts)Nothing in the account the IRS direct deposits tax refund.
Seems hard to believe checks went out and direct deposits didn't.
I know they're going by Ss#, but still.

(64,852 posts)And we've got a net worth well into 7 digits.
If they were sending it to likely Rs, we would have gotten the $ too.

(1,584 posts) Mail the taxpayer a bogus check, perhaps in an odd amount, then tell the taxpayer to call a number or verify information online in order to cash it.
