that said, i do think georgia will be close. maybe not a proper "battleground state", but close enough to cause donnie to waste time and money defending it.

(22,077 posts)absolutely broke. No wonder he's pushing for every dollar he can get. All (or a lot of them) his hotels are closed, the banks are screaming bloody murder (and I hope they seize the hotels and properties). Idiot is broke. I love hearing this, scumbag. All along, pretending that he's wealthy and rich, when he broke as a fiddle.
Ha ha heh. Good MF, I hope you suffer.

ok, i don't really want democrats to abuse government powers the way republicans do, but it would be sweet and appropriate payback....
SWBTATTReg
(22,077 posts)that I don't want democratic governors abusing powers, but the republicans don't see that way unfortunately. They'll do underhanded means of getting what they want, despite what court rulings have said in some cases (e.g., in North Carolina, they keep messing w/ the voting process and such), and other nefarious methods of retaining power. They are not playing nice.

(22,077 posts)are joining together into a partnership. I think the oil markets overreacted quite a bit w/ this news, and then on top of, demand for oil products collapsed. Good timing, eh? At least we get a little benefit from it, being that gas prices at the pump keep going down. Finally. Let's put more money into our own pockets for once, and not theirs. They have had their gravy train for way too long.

We are not a solid GOP state, but they still control all the levers of power. (So their ability to cheat can make a real difference.)

Georgia GOP Leader: More Absentee Voting Will Help Turnout, Be 'Devastating To Republicans'
I, however, am filled with glee. GA has been trying to go blue or so close to it for several cycles now, but the machines and the voter suppression tactics have been enough to stave that off. It's about to get really interesting.

(5,255 posts)Won't Kemp have to sign that bill? Seems like something he will veto. Assuming the "Republicans" in the state lege even agree on such a bill, which also seems extremely dubious.

(25,952 posts)1. I don't know that we will all be out and about by then. It depends on how treatments and case loads develop.
2. Once people get a taste of absentee voting, they may just stick with it.
But you're right. I shouldn't just put my own opinion out there on that.
DarthDem
(5,255 posts)When people vote, Republicans lose. And Democrats - and the people - win. Some of these Southern states may, quite sadly, have no choice but to provide for VBM or absentee voting in November.

(5,255 posts)The article linked in the post to which I responded only talks about absentee mail voting for the primary, not the general. That's why I wasn't sure this would carry over to the general. Is there something I missed? I hope so!

(54,770 posts)After standing in line for 8 hours to vote for John Kerry in 2004, I decided to do it that way going forward.
This is very good news. Thanks.

(5,255 posts)With two Senate seats up at the same time - which doesn't happen very often - turnout is going to be pretty high. If the GOP has to play defense in Georgia, they may be in some very serious trouble.
