about my son who works in a grocery store.
Under orders from our governor and state health director, the number of customers will be limited in stores starting Monday. I believe a store the size of Walmart will be limited to admit 50 customers at a time. Smaller stores will allow even fewer. In addition, all cashier lanes will be fitted with plexiglass barriers and only every other lane will be used. Some stores already have the plexiglass in place. Employees may wear masks if they desire. These measures should have already been in place, but at least they are happening now.
Im happy about the order limiting customers, even though it may be a bit of an inconvenience. Maybe this will make people think twice about running into a store for something they dont really need.
Sons store recently had two cashiers quit, so he worked overtime today. I worry about him bringing the virus home to me and Mr. O.
Hope everyone is staying well out there.

(149,297 posts)I know you have a Republican governor, but maybe he has more sense than most of them!
I hope your son stays well, and it looks like his chances for doing that just got a whole lot better!

Stay well!

pretty aggressive too, in extra pay, more sanitizers, limits on customers in the store at a time, etc., but still, I worry. All it takes is one. We have at least in STLMO a stay at home order, and all non-essential businesses be closed down, but at Home Depot, people are acting like there's no tomorrow, doing their rehab work, etc. Ridiculous. The police and health depts. had to step in and warn Home Depot to stop letting in so many people (so many because of the stay at home order, thus they're all running around, doing errands and crap...idiots).
UPDATE: The state of MO FINALLY issued a stay at home order for the whole state of MO. Before, it's only been in the cities of STLMO and KCMO. Good news perhaps, and hopefully not too late.
Some days son said the store has been pretty crowded. He stocks as well as works register.

(38,958 posts)The checkers get plexiglass, the folks in the aisle get nothing. They can wear gloves and masks if they choose, but beyond that you're on your own. Customers really don't pay much attention to the social distancing when they are shopping. My experience from over 4 decades is the most grocery store customers have their brains unplugged for their visits.

(543 posts)He's most worried about the people who won't give him six feet, get insulted when he asks them to move. His new roommate works at one of those places that clean up after a fire, a murder, or some such, and has access to lots of N95 masks. He's offered my son two masks. My sister found a pattern for N95 masks, is going to make him a couple of them.
I had to make a choice -- at age 85, do I want to quilt or write. I chose writing, gave my sister a huge amount of fabric, all of it top-of-the-line, which she will use in making masks.
My only hope is that some publisher will find novelty in an octogenerian novelist. My bad for taking 17 years to finish my novel. It's mostly been the novel I'm not writing. I figured it would be a succes if I finished it, now that I'm closing in on the ending, I'd love to see it published. I'm confident in the writing, need beta readers to tell me if the characters are true, if the story is true.
