TN order to "stay at home" my experience today,

I posted a couple times about how I felt about this bogus stay at home order and how it was worded. Here is what I experienced today, in Bristol. I needed to leave the house to go to CVS and pick up a script for my hcp daughter. On my lil 7 minute drive to CVS, I passed 7 pickups with boats attached heading towards the lake. I am human,,I am somewhat understanding, they are going to fish for food as they just got wanna feed their family.( I know,,Repub thought process) Until the point I went across the street form CVS figuring, I am here,,pick up a pack or 2 of cigs for me. And watched a man filling his truck and boat with gas,,total cost,,73.87. He got ahead of me in line and was big ,bad ass,, without a prompt, telling lady behind counter, " Im feeding my family, the order does not apply to me" Now I normally do not confront,,but I just asked,," are you out of work? is there anyway I can help your family? " He said "Im laid off now and need food." I replied," well that 75 bucks you just spent would have bought alot of food at Food City across the street." He puffed, and blurted truth " No, I dont need no help I just wanna fish,,and you don't need to get in my dam business"

and I paid for my cigs and clerk and I laughed and I said 4 words,,this is most Tennessee.

It's rural vs. urban. Educated vs. non-educated.

We live in one of the most liberal places on earth in the Bay Area. Just 30 miles from here rural CA, it's a TOTALLY different world.

That being said, I emphatically believe most folks are good people, but are either brain-washed and/or selfish. I've personally only met one TRULY evil person in my life. He happened to be a narcissist and share many of the traits that the Idiot occupying our White House has.

But the day the order went into effect here there was scant difference.

We had 24 hours' notice. Less, actually. In that time, presumably, we were all to go to stores and stock up, get gas, make arrangements to not do whatever was scheduled for the next day, and clear up who was and wasn't to be at work.

That's a tall order. Most people couldn't do it.

So of course it didn't seem like it was working. Because it wasn't.

Then there were the idjits who weren't going to abide by it. You couldn't tell them from the rest of the population.

A week later, it's pretty dead. "Essential workers" are essentially still working, but most stores not selling food, drink, and communications stuff are closed. Restaurants have worked out how to wrangle take-out. People figured things out, employers sorted things out, essential errands were done and other postponed.

These things take a while to work themselves out. Day 1 is all but meaningless unless it's a curfew and if you're caught outside they ask for your papers and if they're not stamped with the appropriate official seals allowing you to be in public summarily execute you.

Most of the idjits have fallen into line.

There are still violations. Neighbor had a big birthday party for one of their nephews. Grandparents, the neighbors' brothers/sisters, their kids, birthday boy's friends and their parents. 20 kids in the backyard, 30+ adults in the house. Eff the stay at home order, their nephew's only going to turn whatever his age is once. Then, for the rest of the week, the neighborhood kids spent the day playing on his new toys. (In fact, they have online school, but it's sunny, warm, and there's a yard to play in. Plus, when are they ever goiing to need literacy and numeracy?) If anybody caught COVID-19, now's about the time they'd start showing symptoms, which is why it's so insidious. You pay next week for what you did last week.

And for the rest of his life, he's gonna talk about how full of shit "gummint" is and how everything is a plot against his "Free-dumb".

He doesn't sound like the kind of person that's fun to shelter in place with.

5. And, unless he has his family with him - he was outdoors (most of the time)

and at least 6' away from others.

At least in Ohio - using the parks is OK, as long as you are not using shared equipment and maintain your distance.

7. We're not allowing it here because of the risk people could get in trouble and need rescue.

So no outdoor swimming, surfing, hiking, fishing or hunting allowed.

10. Interestng. Makes sense - especially as to the swimming, surfing, boat fishing, or hunting.

Hiking (at least around here), and fishing from land is not likely to generate a need for rescue.

I get mine delivered and it's very convenient. You can also get other items delivered as well. You can download an app on your phone or just do it online and you don't have to go into the store at all. It will help you avoid the many obviously sick people who are there to pick up prescriptions in person.

Going to get what they need, while it's in car is my bit of sanity while I still have it..if I happen to go in store, I have gloves, wipes , and masks in my car. I've been involved in med field for 40 years.i could just hunker down and go insane myself.. going to CVS in a clean way,, takes care of me also. If folks can go fishing..I think I can go to CVS for my wife and daughter..

Instead of weeks. I fucking hate social distancing. I hate it with the fiery passion of 1,000 suns. But I'm staying at home because I want to get back to my pre-virus life as fast as possible. I want this fucking curve destroyed and I want this god forsaken virus gone from the planet. So that's why I am doing this, so we can get back to normal as fast as possible.
