Why these 8 Republican governors are holding out on statewide stay-at-home orders

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/04/politics/republican-governors-stay-at-home-orders-coronavirus/index.html

I mistakenly posted this in LBN, but it should have been posted here. I hope ...

(CNN)Just eight US governors have decided against issuing statewide directives urging their residents to stay at home as the outbreak of the coronavirus escalates and spreads across the country, the last holdouts in the nation.

The governors, all of whom are Republican, have offered a variety of explanations for why they have not followed the lead of their colleagues from coast-to-coast -- along with countries across the world -- by ordering people to restrict their movement in hopes of slowing the pandemic.

In doing so, they've collectively ignored the stay-at-home pleas of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, who said in a CNN interview: "If you look at what's going on in this country, I just don't understand why we're not doing that."

With the strength of their prayers the virus stands no chance and the economy can get back to the top of the charts if people were just willing to ignore and forget about the virus. Just crank up the economy to gang buster levels and the conservatives will be rewarded at the polls. The virus should not bring America to a grinding halt. The Will of God and his Divine Provenance are all we require, he will watch over us and protect.

One of my friends stated this on FB the other day. It took all I had not to ask, " So how many deaths do you think HE will be satisfied with, this time?"

Could it be that those red states still open did the same thing that florida did and sabotaged their unemployment systems too?

So if they close they will get flooded with complaints and bad polls once people realize what they did?

Is that a factor in some of these states where they see it as an "Urban" disease?

McMaster has closed down bars, restaurants, gyms, hair salons and parks and he's allowing counties to lock down like Charleston recently did. But SC is mostly rural ; the biggest cities are Charleston and Columbia and they're only a little over 130,000 pop. Oddly enough, the first big outbreaks were in rural communities not the two cities. I think this is all about local and state business leaders and money.
