IMO the only way to improve the current situation is to get more Republicans

to take a public stand against the Trumpster Fire: once there's enough movement, there will be a sudden collapse of public tolerance for the Orangetan

And the only way to get more Republicans to take such a public stand is to start identifying them closely with Trump

But privately I suspect they're looking at replacing him knowing he's lost the upcoming election from this. They know people are running from trump and them now , and an election disaster is coming if they don't. Some polls are being manipulated for him so don't believe them. trump talking daily publicly is a gift to the Democrats and Joe Biden. Americans are believing him less and less now, and know they can't trust him on anything he says or claims. trumps a serial liar , and keeps proving it daily .
