Dr. Fauci: COVID-19 could become seasonal
by: Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony Fauci says there is a very good chance the new coronavirus “will assume a seasonal nature” because it is unlikely to be under control globally.

Fauci is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He says the virus is unlikely to be completely eradicated from the planet this year. That means the U.S. could see the “beginning of a resurgence” during the next flu season.

Fauci says the prospect of a resurgence is the reason the U.S. is working so hard to get its preparedness “better than it was.” He says that includes working to develop a vaccine and conducting clinical trials on therapeutic interventions.

Fauci also says states that don’t have stay-at-home orders are not putting the rest of the country at risk as much as they are putting themselves at risk.

Fauci spoke on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

3 PM-3:20 PM on my street where I sat in a covered porch counting: 110 cars went by and 20 walkers or joggers without masks and not maintaining social distance. Like watching a string of plague victims doing a Danse Macabre down the street.

thing similar to the annual flu shots, that'll include something against the CV too. Here's hoping for the best.

Be safe.

I watched a 1-1/2 hr. panel discussion from experts from Singapore on youtube.com a couple of weeks ago.

The members of this panel were mostly from Singapore and they all seemed to agree that this is our new way of life now and that it will not change EVER.

That's right EVER.

I've tried to find that youtube video since and I cannot find it for some reason. I even had it bookmarked and was planning on posting it but it went bye bye real damn fast.

This is the New World according to these experts.

Oh what fun! Great fun indeed!

They were saying this is the reason you see so many people from Asia wearing face masks (I never knew why myself).

That is because the environment in which they live has many viruses around all of the time and people wear masks to avoid catching one of them.

If (and a BIG IF) I find it again, I will post it.

It was lengthy but worth taking the time to watch it.

This grim reality which is new to "us" is "business as usual" in many parts of the world already!

Who wants to live in a world like this?

I asked a good friend of mine what he thought and he said that he "Really did not particularly care to live in such a world that was like this forever".

Sadly, I agreed with him.

Thanks for nothing CPP! Xi smiled and lied! What a SOB!!!

The one bright spot that I see from this is boneheads like me will be certain to start getting flu shots each year.

Our grandparents -- or, in the case of you spring chickens, greatgrandparents, came through far worse: the 1918-1920 Spanish flu. Compared to the Spanish flu, which killed 100 million in today's terms, the Covid-19 pandemic is peanuts. Modern medicine, disease surveillance technology, information distribution etc are all transparently, and incomparably, more advanced.

didn't go away, it comes around every year. It's just part of the seasonal flu now and nobody worries too much about it.

If COVID-19 stays, it'll end up the same way. People will get it, but there will be immunity, vaccines, and medication to deal with it and it will just be a thing that happens, not something that brings the world to a stop.

Flu vaccine is a complex concoction of many anti-viral sub-vaccines, from what I understand.
