MEMPHIS, Tenn. — FedEx flew some pilots back to the United States after they received inconclusive test results for the novel coronavirus.

According to FedEx, the pilots were removed from service and are self-isolating while follow-up testing and evaluation is being performed.

1st time I have heard of "inconclusive" test results. Anyone?

The sample will undergo a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. This type of test detects signs of the virus’s genetic material.

A PCR test can confirm a diagnosis of COVID-19 if it identifies two specific SARS-CoV-2 genes. If it identifies only one of these genes, it will produce an inconclusive result.
