Lots and lots of helicopters flying.

(5,801 posts)But that's been there for a while now. And usually when we hear a lot of copters flying around like this, there is an immediate problem.

(2,626 posts)I'm trying to wrap my head around this but it's too surreal.
Here's a link to what I found.
https://www.mediaite.com/news/nyc-council-health-chair-says-city-will-use-parks-to-bury-bodies-of-coronavirus-victims/
"Snip -
New York City council health committee chairman Mark D. Levine claimed on Monday that the city will soon start to bury coronavirus victims in mass graves at a city park due to shortages of morgue and funeral home space. "
I don't know this publication. I would gladly be embarrassed forever rather than have this be the truth of what's happening. Just tell me it's a bogus site and I'll be happy.

(51,308 posts)Though actually, if I have to be buried - in a park sounds like a good place.

(16,616 posts)NBC is now reporting it. I just think it's so hard to believe that the news helicopters are there to get video. This will be shocking to most Americans.

(16,616 posts)and there's a link. Still it's hard to believe it's happening in the United States.

#BREAKING NYC to start temporary burials, potentially in trenches dug in city parks, top official says

(16,616 posts)It's a terrible idea. It conjures up images of Iran digging those massive trenches for their COVID dead.

The fact that today has helicopters flying above the park will probably only spur them on to even greater conspiracy theories.
This is definitely crazy times to be sure.

(65,013 posts)This isn't mere stupidity. It's a choice to be this ignorant.
Can't blame a virus on that. Can only blame the willfully ignorant directly. That is 100% their own fault.

(5,640 posts)There are the willfully ignorant and those who are self deluded. Trumps followers, of which Q followers are a subset, at least some of them, believe that trump is savior and no amount of argumentation will sway them. It is why you can play a tape of trump saying some falsehood and they refuse to believe it. Perhaps I am wrong and they are all willfully ignorant, however, I have talked to people here in Texas that are beyond redemption. Their delusion is complete.
They scare the hell out of me.

(65,013 posts)...is an outcome of willful ignorance.
Thinking is possible, but too hard. I'll let a leader do my thinking for me.
It still results in exactly what you're talking about.
It doesn't scare me. It disgusts me.

(38,187 posts)Everyone is asking if Trump supporters will see how horribly he is handling all of this and turn on him.
No, they won't.
They will make up shit to praise him for if they have to.
They know, deep down, that Trump has screwed up his response to this. So, instead of admitting it, they are not ready to give up. So, they are making up things to praise him for so they can continue to stay in the state of denial they are in.

(2,193 posts)This isn't directed toward you, Me., but to some of the replies to you.
Trenches in the park? No.
It's unnecessary, it would be easier and less traumatic and have better optics to use cold warehouses, more trailers, and to begin cremations than to ever dig pits, especially in Central Park.
Just because one NYC city official mentioned it, unfortunately, it's not going to happen.

(1,697 posts)AIDS patients were buried that way in the 80's and 90's.
"Hart Island is a small islet located a mile east of the Bronx. Its one mile long and a third of a mile wide (roughly 213 acres), and during the mid 80s and 90s, New York City buried thousands of people whod died of HIV on the island out of fear the bodies might infect others.
"Although the city only buried 17 HIV-positive people there during 1985, they continued to do so well into the 90s. The number of HIV-positive people buried there is estimated to be in the thousands, but city officials are reluctant to provide exact numbers because of longstanding criticisms of the islands crude handling of deaths at the time."
