President Trump tweeted Monday that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, following a series of grim warnings about this weeks expected death toll from coronavirus.
LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, Trump tweeted Monday. USA STRONG!
The president warned over the weekend that this week will probably be the toughest week.
There will be a lot of death, unfortunately. But a lot less death than if this wasnt done, Trump said Friday. But there will be death.

(11,744 posts)Much like conservatives (which is why he fit in so well) Trump has a binary perception of the world. Twisted, backward, and binary. He struggles with concepts that require nuance, which is why he sounds so ignorant (because he is) when he speaks or Tweets. At the beginning with the Tweets, there was a very slight possible argument that it was the 144 character limit. It is difficult to express oneself with that few characters, but double that, it is more possible. Trump is just limited cognitively.
It struck me when he answered Jim Acosta last week and was saying, "I could come up here and be negative, but I have to be the country's cheerleader". To me that was not only a stupid analogy, but it was an example of how Trump has such a constricted view of the world. To him, "negative" is being realistic and being a cheerleader is about hiding from or distorting the truth.
We need a leader to say that we are going through a significant crises, but the will and the fortitude of the American people is strong and that we will come through this to reestablish ourselves. The American public can or it used to be able to handle the truth and push forward. Right now we need to put aside our wants and focus on the needs of the country. We need to stay in and let the virus burn itself out without hosts. We need to focus on trying to save the lives of people infected and to comfort them. We need to focus on our families and our communities.
Trump cannot do that though. He is so limited in how he sees the world and how he communicates that he literally cannot be the leader that the US needs.
