Can a person transmit the coronavirus simply by breathing on someone?

This question was asked of Dr. Gupta on CNN. His answer, if the virus is in the back of the throat of someone with the virus, then it is possible-if you are within a couple of feet. I cannot locate Gupta's video, but here is one on youtube discussing the subject:

Next question (now, this is just a question not medical advice): What if someone who has the virus drinks strong alcohol, would it not kill the virus in the back of the throat?

You can infect someone by just breathing at them. As for drinking alcohol to prevent infection, how long do you think it's going to stay in the back of your throat?

but that's really not going to be of much help because the vast majority of the virus isn't just hanging around in your esophagus.

the alcohol won't reach the virus that's in your lungs, or the back of your nasal cavity, etc.

set up tiny little poker tables for them, and enticed them to hang around using stripper viruses, dancing on top of the tables? With poles and pasties and naughty virus stripper lingerie...the whole shebang.

I think this might work.

Every throat in the country needs a tiny Coronavirus nightclub set up, so that they are right up there, drunk and disorderly, ready to be expelled on a whim.

Whaddya think?

Workable?

Look...I'm fucking desperate here, and it HAS to be as good an idea as using a fucking Malaria drug on this lil' mofo.

maybe for a few moments, slightly. mouthwash with alcohol works to some small extent as well.

but if you're actively sick, you've still got virus in the nasal cavity, in the lungs, so a few rounds of breathing and a cough or a sneeze and it's all undone.

Suggests the virus can remain viable in quite small bits of water, that are light enough to remain in the air for some time, unlike the larger droplets ejected by a sneeze of a cough, which are heavy enough to drift down quickly.

The sun is always over the yardarm somewhere, but the suggested procedure, though pleasant, one suspects would not achieve much by way of anti-viral effect.

However....

watch the movie Grabbers. It's available on Hulu.

A small Irish island is invaded by aliens of some sort, and the inhabitants quickly learn that if they stay drunk, the aliens won't kill them. It's a hoot.

Here's a link to the trailer.

To give something to compare that to, a dust particle that can be easily inhaled without you even seeing it is roughly 5 microns or 200 millions of an inch
