Acting @SECNAV just issued an apology to the Navy for his comments today.

I kinda figured he would because LOSER45 seemed a bit sheepish about the affair at his rally this afternoon and most likely forced him into it
Nevertheless, fuck you all

His apology comes only because he "naively and stupidly" did not think his own blustering unprofessional spew would become public.
He should be dismissed IMO.

(5,012 posts)no less. I'll accept his apology when he reinstates Crozier and not a moment sooner.
I want to know how he got there. Military plane? Private jet? That matters to me. His apology is hollow.

We must recognize the difficulty so many have in dealing with idiot in chief, and recognize them when they apologize.

(28,940 posts)He can quit any time he wants to. If he got pressured by Moron, he could have said, "Nope" and quit. More importantly, he Did Not have to make an insane insulting rant at those sailors. In short, if he folds to pressure that easily, he should not have the job.

(1,677 posts)Toothpaste tubes are made with plastic.
Unscrew the tube top cap and squeeze the paste out on a small plate and replace the top cap.
Cut the tube bottom off with scissors just above the end.
With a blunt knife, spread the two sides apart to open the tube at the bottom
.
Scrap the paste off the plate with the knife and scoop it into the tube from the bottom.
With needle nosed pliers squeeze the bottom ends back together and push the paste to the tube top.
With the pliers, hold the bottom together about 1/4 up from the tube end.
Use a lighter to melt the end plastic until it gets very soft (caution, do not touch the hot plastic).
Move the pliers down to squeeze the hot ends together and hold until cool. You may fold the ends a little to insure a tight seal.
The toothpaste is back in the tube and ready for use.
Caution, do not breath the hot plastic fumes, except maybe a little at the end.

(20,628 posts)absolutely horrifically this was playing across the board, with people from all walks of life. He knew he couldn't get away with blaming it on the "fake news", "do-nothing Democrats", or any of his usual punching bags. He quickly formulated another cowardly exit strategy, just like he did in all of his failed marriages and businesses. The original Modly statement was completely his own handiwork, and now Modly is walking the plank like a good little soldier...I mean, sailor.
Moldy was naive and stupid enough to think Napoleon Boneyspurs would reward his ass-kissing by having his back when things got tough. Nope!

(25,952 posts)Especially because of all the noise about not using a classified server. Regardless of whether it was classified, someone had to share it inappropriately for it to go anywhere. Capt Crozier didn't leak this to the press. Who did? Somebody decided to sacrifice him to shut him up and it backfired bigly.
Nancy needs to follow that trail

(10,001 posts)This is what Trump and his administration think of the military. It is theirs to play with and use against their personal (and not our Nation's) enemies. This once again is blatant ABUSE OF POWER.
Just like Trump abusing the DOJ to go after his personal enemies and FEMA, DHS to deny supplies and backup to States Trump has a personal beef with.
Impeach and jail the SOB and his kids and loyalist to him over country staff and legislators.

(5,477 posts)more like a CYA bucket of excuses after going all the way to Guam to berate the crew for supporting their Captain. A good portion of his ass-chewing revolved around how much attention the letter got in DC.
Fuck him. This 'apology' is completely hollow without an accompanying resignation. Being in charge of the Navy is a disgrace to that fine institution. (Even as a Zoomie, I think that the Squids are OK.)
Who would have thought that the Secretary of the Navy would be both naive AND stupid? Instead of the US Navy, the closest this turd should have come to anything resembling a ship is in his own bathtub.
Too bad one must be separated from the military for a minimum of 5 years before being appointed as Secretary of the Navy; President Biden can't appoint Brett Crozier (at least, in his first term), but should definitely consider placing the good Captain in a high-level government position befitting his stature. He had already risen to a level seen by very few - there are 11 nuclear-powered in the US arsenal, and their command staff is very carefully chosen from among the elite best-of-the-best that the Navy has.

(7,402 posts)Was a trial balloon for a Courts Martial that Trump was wanting. When it backfired badly out comes this new statement about how his words "may have" caused pain. They were intended to cause pain and sully the reputation. Trump was responsible for both statements. Now everyone pretends it never happened. Besides, if the apology was sincere it would have been handled in a personal manner - not some Tweet.

(81,127 posts)Did he? Does he fully agree with it?
Will he come out and make a public statement toward that end?
He needs to get Crozier reinstated. AS WELL AS issue a public apology. And then resign. And disappear. Before somebody figures out how to take him to court and sue his ass off for this.
