The other thing that happened with the Wisconsin election -

Usually many of the poll workers are retired senior citizens. One of the people I talked to today was a young man who was a city worker at another job, but was asked to work the polls for 12 hours, so he did. He said there was an all around shortage of willing poll workers.

So there could have been fewer polls open because of the shortage of people willing to take the risk of facing the public at this time.

That said, the election should have been postponed till a time when nobody felt they were risking their health to work the polls or to vote.

We have a shortage of Democratic election judges in this red area. He did not work the primary because the county clerk did not provide masks and gloves to the poll workers. He felt uncomfortable. That was his choice.

So far, no success in getting our governor to let this election be all vote by mail but at least he pushed it out far enough it should be safe to have the election. Our state Democratic party sued to try and get all vote by mail.

If we had not moved that election, it would have been hard to fully staff all 190 precincts. Like many places, poll workers are mostly retired persons and many would not have wanted to risk it even for a runoff (which will have a very low turnout).

To add to the fun, we have all new voting equipment and when we were training on it, I could pretty much tell who was going to call the Elections office the next day and resign. Too much technology for them.
