The feline has escaped from the burlap.

From Trump to assorted state officials, Republicans are standing in line to admit that voting by mail---or anything that encourages or facilitates voting by everyone legally entitled to do so---will mean the GOP candidates will lose.

Most people are not Republicans and recognize that the GOP agenda favors the white, the wealthy and the straight. And, even those voters who fit that demographic understand that most do not and they reject the politics of exclusion. If the majority is permitted to vote freely---without intimidation, needless ID's or remote polling places---the Republican Party will be forced to drastically change---or die.

They're just finally saying the quiet part out loud.

I'm in Oregon and we have had VBM since 1998. It has been only since the mid 2000s that Democrats have dominated. Greg Walden represents Eastern Oregon and he has been reelected multiple times. In 2016 we elected a Republican SOS. VBM just means that MORE people can and will vote and that's what scares the Republicans!

Excellent post!

the Republicans realize they can say it out loud without any of their supporters caring about "other people" not being able to vote.

The MF floated the GOP talking point balloon yesterday that voting by mail is rife with cheating...except his ballot, of course. Watch for them to keep that up as well as their wholesale war on the USPS to prevent it from happening.

For years, Republicans and conservatives have styled themselves as "real" Americans. They've sneered at the highly educated, the actual expert, in favor of their own home-grown native smarts. They love to shout elitist at anyone they think is putting on airs just because they have training and expertise. They're the true voice of the country, the silent majority.

Well, their majority has slipped away, evaporating like dew on a summer morning. Now it's time for them to grab the mantle of the elite, and justify their power grab because they know what's best for everyone else. The will of the people will be invoked from time to time (mostly out of habit), but their actual presumption will be that the hoi polloi don't know what's good for them and they do. Therefore, they should remain in power because it's best for all concerned.

To see the republican party die.

It's platforms and so called philosophy a laughing stock and it's adherents be rejected any time they attempt to have power over anything. And I'd like to make agree ing with them make you subjected to shame and rejection all the rich
Pigs that stole from our nation caught and bankrupted and homeless. To the point they kill themselves and thier remains put in a cremation plastic bag and a cardboard box that no one bothers to claim.
