Root canal tomorrow.

I canceled 2 weeks ago due to fear of the virus, but the pain is so bad now, I don't care anymore.
Someone on here told me I would regret canceling the appointment, and you were right!!
Nothing is helping the pain. OTC meds, clove oil, Ambesol, Orajel....tried it all. The tooth pain has now given me an ear ache too.
Haven't eaten in 2 days.

An abscessed tooth can kill you just a much as Coronavirus and probably with as much or more pain too...the earache would have me very concerned with what you are describing for your pain levels...I hope that you can get that seen ASAP...

I just chipped a tooth on Friday and the jagged part is cutting my tongue but no tooth pain (yet)...but if I start to get any kind of pain I will be dentist shopping for anyone within 100 miles that can see me early as their first patient of the day and get into a room with a door and no other examination chairs and a door - ASAP...

I'll be rooting for you to get a fast, positive outcome either way...

I'm sorry about your pain! Glad you found a dentist to help. They will wear masks and gowns and gloves and goggles, I'm sure. Mine did even so early in the crisis.

its 3 - 2 combination That is all my oral surgeon recommended and I had 2 of them done. Best guy I ever found, sadly he just passed at 75 . He would prescribe a pain killer. Before you went out the door he would give you his home number if you had a problem. I see they are coming out with a version.

9. I just had a tooth extracted AND a bone graft in my jaw...from biting into a Dorito!

I've been self quarantined since March 23, i was NOT HAPPY with 3 hours in a dentist's chair with 2 people breathing straight into my open mouth...seemed like a waste of my quarantine time.

but it had to be done, tooth was cracked in half. I've been super lucky with my teeth, at age 68 I have only had one cavity in my life, and sure enough, it was the tooth with a filling that cracked.

hang in there, dentists can do amazing things nowadays, I have had NO pain even with the bone graft, the membrane and the sutures, good luck with your root canal!

Had a root canal on a severely broken tooth in November. It was fine, and I was so glad to have done it.

12. So today sucked at the dentist.

Had to go to a different office since mine was closed.
So the endodontist performed the root canal. Took about 2 hours.
After she was done, a different dentist came in to do the permanent filling.
After this dentist did some grinding, etc. she took pictures of the tooth and put it on the screen for me, showing me that the there wasn't enough tooth left to be saved, and it wouldn't support a crown, and if I didn't have it extracted, it would eventually break off.
So what did I want to do? Extract it, of course, while I'm sitting here. Done. She was very apologetic. She showed me the tooth and even I, without a dental degree, could see there wasn't enough tooth left for a crown.
What gets me is why couldn't the endodontist recognize that there wouldn't be enough tooth left to support a crown, before I sat through a 2-hour root canal, where they had to stop several times to give me another shot to kill the pain from the drilling?
I was told I wouldn't be charged for the root canal, just the extraction.
Anyway, they were very sanitary. Their office doors were locked, you knocked, they came outside in ppe, took your temperature, asked your name, etc. Then you had to fill out a questionnaire on symptoms, traveling, etc., then off to a room.
