I don't believe in an afterlife, but I am comforted that they have become, in Kurt Vonnegut's phrase, "unstuck in time" in a way, and that they continue to exist in the hearts and minds of those who knew them.

Not even my worst enemy. My sister succumbed to it in early March, 2 years and nine months after diagnosis, and, yeah, no one deserves that regardless of what they have done in their lives. I hope her family find the healing and support they need in their time of loss.
