Trump could win the presidency because Americans are not as good as we think.

Since March 10th, I have been in my apartment every single day except for the 4 times that I went out for groceries. It's so quiet here on the Upper East side of NYC, you can hear birds chirp.

I live near a lot of hospitals and the sirens blare at all times of the day and night. Our healthcare workers are getting infected, dying, stressed out, scared, exhausted, and above all, brave.

Our president uses his daily press conferences to promote himself and score settle with his "enemies". He's not even trying to lead. He just wants a positive narrative that he, and the right wing media, can spin.

Schools are closed. People are being laid off. We're looking at depression-era UE numbers. The world's economy has stopped cold. Life as we know it has stopped cold.

All of this is happening in Trump's America. Yet, it's big news that an average comic with a huge YouTube following will vote for Trump over Biden. What's more troubling are the comments underneath that "endorsement". There are folks in agreement with this. How bad do things have to get for people to not vote for Trump no matter who his opponent is? A fucking ham sandwich would be better than Trump.

But this has gotten me to thinking. Trump could win because there are a lot of horrible people in this country:

There are "narcissists" who only care about themselves and are blind to the sacrifices of others. They don't care about what's happening to our healthcare workers.

There are "arsonists" who just want society to burn. They love the chaos and want more of it. Their lives are meaningless so why should they care about anyone else.

There are "racists" who think that Trump will always protect White people when push comes to shove.

There are "sexists" who are mad that women have choices in their lives. They want these women punished, and Trump will do that for them.

There are the "greedy" who think that Trump will protect their wealth.

There are enough of these people, and others, to put Trump back into the White House. The Democrats have chosen a mainstream, traditional candidate as their nominee. Better yet, they've chosen a real human being. A good man. A decent man. If Biden loses, then that says more about us as Americans than it does about him or Trump.

2018 proved that. We won pretty much every open seat because we got out the vote and we ran on issues. We need to follow a similar pattern for 2020.

The key will be turnout, as it always is.

I live on the east side in the high 50s on the street that goes up to one of the entries to the 59th street bridge. I can also sometimes hear birds when previously I could hardly hear myself think!

We just forgot how to rumble. We tried to play nice and let everyone voice their opinion because...whatever. We thought if we just did the right thing for long enough surely they would realize we were right and they were wrong. Yeah, not so much. Time to play nice is long gone. Take the high road? Naw, down to the low road and beat their sorry asses where they stand. They ain’t nothing but hatred and hot air.

bringing all kinds of people together is spot on from the get go. And with all the country is facing now ,it's going take an awaking, and it's happening. Trump is worried now more than ever over the vote and he should be, he fears the mail in vote . Living in NYC you know far more about the true Trump than every and all working stiff ,meaning working class people ,pay check to pay check republican leaning voters ,educated or not . At some point in the process they will divide . Those with the money doing the talking will be viewed by those people who have been fooled by them for years as the greedy lying con artist's that they are. They seem nice when louring the uneducated or educated working class into their party politics. And they turn real nasty when they are called on their bull shit lies. Yes they are greedy, and they are pick pockets.

But the fact is it has gone too far and they know it. They fear losing the power in both houses and the presidency more than you fear Trump winning. Realize this and believe all kinds people will come together ,it is after all the right thing to do. It is all the things we have in common that will bring everyday people together. You see here is the thing, this country cannot be what it can be, not just for itself, but for all unless we make it happen. That's reaching the soul of this nation and is the best we got . It's in the people.

Hope Faith and Determination. We are all better than those greedy hateful bastards and the time has come to prove that.

I'm talking DC suburbs, MD side, where many of our parents trekked into the city to work for the big, bad federal gub'mint. They fall into many of the groups you list above, especially greedy. Some are dumb rednecks with confederate flag pics, but most are educated and affluent, and they've all been brainwashed for decades by right-wing media (they actually cite Limbaugh when commenting). They are doubling-down in defense of Trump and his handling of the pandemic with no concerns about mismanagement of stimulus funds or dangers of unproven drugs, cheering his attacks on the media, mocking states over the desperate calls for ventilators and PPE, etc. The cult-like devotion is really starting to depress me and I'm not convinced the present-day DNC fully understands the enemy.

believe, there are plenty of college-educated, doing- well financially supporters of this admin. as you just elaborated. So many more people need to be aware of this-- it's not just the crude, uneducated worshippers that are often portrayed. And the huge influence of Hate Media is tragically minimized or dismissed. It's puzzling and dangerous. For a number of years I lived and worked in Bethesda.

which is really sad. And not too bright considering we desperately need to win states like PA, MI, and WI -- and they can be won without compromising principles.

Everybody's bad in someone's opinion. (I'm not saying there's no good and evil. Just that most of you folks aren't perfect.)

To the maximum extent possible, every argument we make should have something to appeal to both Jekyll and Hyde.

For example, don't blow the tops off of mountains when mining. The mountains are our natural heritage and we want to keep them pristine for future generations (Jekyll). And if the tops of the mountains are blown off, I'm sure not going to get any money out of it, and I'll get stuck having to clean it up later (Hyde).
