PSA: "I'm not voting for Biden" translates to "I want Trump to replace RBG."

"I'm not voting for Biden" translates to "I want Trump to replace RBG."

12:32 PM - Apr 8, 2020

Fortunately, I haven't seen anyone on DU (save a troll or two) express a sentiment like Kos alludes to. But any non-Biden-supporting Dems/Independents who are disappointed enough to entertain the thought of a protest vote against Biden, yeah, you'd better hope Justice Ginsburg lives another 5 years. That is, IF this country survives it (Narrator: It won't).

Also you get Thomas for a 40 something and even Roberts might come off for another healthy 40 something.

7-2 with the oldest Republican being 70 in Alito (and they might replace him as well).

We lose the Presidency we almost surely lose the Senate for two more years.

Some things to look forward too:

Fetus Bill of Rights
Increased limitations on contraception
Complete destruction of unions
Even more favorable treatment of corporations
Any funding vehicle that taxes the rich will be treated as unconstitutional (ACA Medicare withholding being the biggest example)
Further push for Balkinization of schools with segregated private church schools getting preferential treatment

Period. So take names and remember. Not that it will matter. They will just change their IDs. However it takes time for a troll to create an online persona.

in the 2016 election because Hillary Clinton wasn’t in favor of abolishing the death penalty.

Well, we saw where such attitudes got us.

She didn't vote HRC, so she got a guy who wanted to execute those Central Park guys AFTER THEY WERE PROVEN INNOCENT!
That's mighty short sighted!

Expressions of support for Sanders and other 'independents' such as Jill Stein are often made as a marker of political orientation. Expressing support for such people says 'I'm not a moderate, I'm well to the left of most people', and as with most such things, serves to identify a 'cool' group separate from the general run of 'squares'. People doing this do not even particularly want to prevail, in the sense of being in the majority. It is axiomatic that a majority can never be 'cool', the feeling of being 'hip' and part of an 'in-crowd' depends on being outnumbered by the host of the unwashed and unenlightened. The point is not to achieve any political goal, to secure any discrete reform, it is simply to be sure one is perceived as a particular, and special, kind of person.

Unfortunately she succumbed to tunnel-vision.

She has since learned what happens when a narcissistic sociopath and a corrupt righ-wing Senate can pack the federal courts with judicial reactionaries.

I would never refrain from voting for a Democrat because he or she opposed it. I am aware that always the Republican in the race would do far more damage to our people and the country than anyone who managed to secure nomination as a Democrat in a contest for high office.

Don’t waste your thoughts on that.

I suspect there isn’t much convincing that can happen this election. It’s just GOTV. This is why Biden won without doing much. The choice was Biden or Sanders and that was an easy choice for most.

My opposition to Bernie Sanders had a 50/50 basis: half of it was disagreeing with a number of his policies, and the other half was the loutish behavior of Bernie supporters here at DU---from the 2016 campaign, to this very day.
