Federal Support Ends For Coronavirus Testing Sites As Pandemic Peak Nears

Some local officials are disappointed the federal government will end funding for coronavirus testing sites this Friday. In a few places those sites will close as a result. This as criticism continues that not enough testing is available.

In the Philadelphia suburbs, Montgomery County has a drive-through site that has tested 250 people a day since March 21.

"It has been a very successful site. We are hoping by the time it closes Friday afternoon that we will have tested a little over 5,000 individuals," says Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, who chairs the commission in the county of more than 825,000 people.

Montgomery County has been hit hard by the pandemic. By Tuesday the county identified 1,294 positive cases and reported 32 COVID-19-related deaths.

Yeah, there are a very few locations in some states, but did they ever really give support for testing sites?

Just in time to make the new case count go to zero by April 30th. Plus, the added benefit to Cult 45 of totally missing any subsequent spikes.

"If you don't test for it, it's not happening." Totally out of Putin's playbook.

Tangerine Idi Amin's flying monkey Jar-Jar must've been burning up the back channels.

He is stopping the tests to lower the known number of cases in order to open the country. This man is inhuman, cruel and dangerous!!! He's worst than the major of Jaws. It's like having radar knowing the sharks are in the water before opening the beach!

This is blatantly irresponsible and amounts to a form of treason if we are fighting a ‘war’ against the virus. Aid and comfort to a virus is allowing it to move through a population unchecked. A sudden and arbitrary deadline for removing federal testing is deadly foolishness if not intentional harm.

I assume there are funds allocated for increasing testing in the gargantuan $2 trillion - and so, tRump will defy Congress and not use those resources anywhere near the way they were intended.

Btw, that NPR piece is soft on the tRump admin’s latest turn towards fascism through incompetence and corruption - some local officials are disappointed? Just some? The headline assumes the administration’s claim of the the peak is true. Criticism? As if this is a purely political debate. I’ll be looking for better coverage of this bungling cruelty by tRump & gang.
