Brian Kilmeade Whines About Payroll Loans; 'People Don't Want Those Jobs Back'

The not-too-bright Fox and Friends host says a stupid thing, again.

BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): The other thing is, if you're trying to help out small business, which restaurants are, don't make them take 75% of that grant money and put it towards employees, many of which don't want those jobs back because they're better off on unemployment. Let them pay their rent, let them somehow survive and keep the lights on and maintain their equipment. So they've got to be flexible when they go into these banks and get these grants, the money that we set aside as taxpayers to keep these restaurants alive when they come back.
Brian Kilmeade doesn't know that unemployment doesn't pay 100% of wages and that being re-hired back to your old job is better and may make the difference between a small business staying in business or failing.

7. The extra $600 a week in the CARES Act will go a ways to help that problem.

$600 per week, assuming 40 hours of work per week that's $15 an hour.

If your benefits are otherwise at 1 cent, you're already at "living wage".

If I went for unemployment, I'd get 44.6% of my gross pay in unemployment benefits where I live because my pay is so far above minimum wage and benefits are not so much means tested as means tempered--my income so exceeds maximum benefits that I could have lower gross pay and still get the same weekly dollar amount.

With the added $600/week, that's 96% of my gross pay. I never see my gross pay amount, if only because of payroll taxes.

If I made $20k less per year, $40k/year, I'd still get the same weekly unemployment benefits. But with the added $600 I'd be receiving 120% of my gross pay.

That's only good through 7/31/20, then the $600 unemployment stipend ends.

12. I would not be in any hurry back to work if I got laid off especially if my employer

is loaded and could have paid his people through this. It is the owners who want this money and don't need it who are dicks. They lost their good people with their actions alone.
